Government Has No Clear Plan or Solution

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has made a special request to the Speaker of Parliament, together with leaders of other opposition political parties, demanding an immediate parliamentary debate regarding the severe economic crisis triggered by the sharp depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar and the government’s continued failure to provide any effective solution.

The Opposition Leader and other political leaders pointed out that the country is once again heading toward a dangerous economic collapse unless urgent and honest measures are taken immediately in the interests of the nation and its people.

They further emphasized that although the Sri Lankan Rupee continues to face intense pressure and rapid depreciation against the US Dollar, the government has so far failed to provide either a clear explanation or a concrete plan to stabilize the currency.

Following the meeting with the Speaker, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also highlighted these concerns in a special statement published on his official “X” account.
